I've succumbed to the pressure: figured I would step into this century and become one of millions of "bloggers." I have to admit, I never would've thought myself to take this step, but I do enjoy keeping in touch with others this way... reading of their exploits and adventures. I think the real reason I haven't done it sooner is because, well, my life just isn't that exciting, really.
First off, I need to explain the picture. We awoke two mornings ago to about 6 inches (yes, I did type that correctly) of new snow. NEW SNOW!!! Needless to say, I spent about 3 hours that morning wandering around in a sort of horrified stupor, mumbling strings of curses that would make my mother blush, wondering When the hell is this winter going to end? Mike and Ryan decided to find the silver lining in the situation, and built a huge snowman on the front lawn - as if defying mother nature with a "Oh yeah, well take this, you #$@!*" Keep in mind that Mike is 6'4" tall. While I did manage to get out on the bike for a short ride that early afternoon, it was little consolation... the next morning brought another inch and cold winds.
Hopefully spring will arrive sometime soon. We've got our first road race of the local season up here on the 5th and 6th of April - Frozen Flatlands (http://www.baddlands.org/). I'm excited and nervous, as usual. The first race of the season is always nerve-wracking - never knowing until things get under way if the old race legs are really there or not. I'm really excited about the upcoming season, since I've put in a lot of work this winter and spring. Hopefully it will pay off. At the very least, I've learned a lot about myself in those hours spent in the saddle in the dark, in the snow, in the bitter cold winds that have been plaguing us relentlessly this winter and spring. If my performance in the Tri-State Outfitters Spring Duathlon is any indication, I'm hoping to make some major improvements this season!
I'll try to post frequently and add pictures as I can, just so that I can alleviate my guilt for not keeping you all in the loop better (it's really all about me, right??)...
Here's to entering this century!
